Hearts in Motion from Michael Recchiuti

Marilyn Monroe said that diamonds are a girl's best friend, but after tasting Michael Recchiuti's chocolates, we cannot help but think Miss Monroe had it wrong. His new Hearts in Motion Gift Box houses nine Burnt Caramel Truffles embellished with Picasso-esque etchings. The thin shell of chocolate gives way to a beautifully rich, smooth burnt caramel ganache that melts slowly on the tongue. Wisps of chocolate and faint hints of caramelized sugar linger on the palate.
Upon entering the Recchiuti Confections storefront in San Francisco's Ferry Building, a landmark epicurean hub, you can tell that Michael and his wife and business partner, Jacky, take incredible pride in their creations. Glistening chocolates of all kinds sparkle in glass jewelry cases waiting to be taken home. But you don't have to travel all the way to San Francisco to taste these delectable chocolates, we're happy to send you, or your sweetheart, a sweet piece of the Bay--just in time for Valentine's Day.

Amarena Cherries from Italy

These beautiful cherries from one of our favorite Italian fruit producers, Morello Austera, are preserved in a lightly spiced syrup infused with cinnamon, clove and almond oil. The result is a succulent treat that is perfect for both sweet and savory preparations. Use them to top cheesecakes, panna cotta or ice cream, or on the savory side, make a sauce with brandy and shallots for pork loin. And don't forget about the syrup. Romance the one you love with a unique glass of bubbly--add a teaspoon of syrup to the bottom of a champagne flute, top with Prosecco or sparkling wine and garnish with a cherry for a cocktail that will have your sweetie swooning in no time.
