Latte di Mandorla con Ciliege (Almond Milk with Cherry)

In the summers in Sicily, this ubiquitous drink is ordered to cool down from the blazing heat. We've added a drizzle of the Cherry Syrup from Morello, but you could just as easily serve it simply over ice or with any other fruit syrups!

Makes 1 quart


  • 6 ounces of marzipan (about 2/3 of the package)
  • 1 quart cold water
  • 2 - 3 tablespoons of cherry or other fruit syrup (optional)


In a blender, place the marzipan and the water and turn the blender on to low at first, increasing the speed slowly. Once the marzipan is completely dissolved, pour into a glass over ice with a drizzle of syrup. Stir gently to combine. (Unless you want a pink drink, don't blend the cherry syrup in completely.)
