Old Fashioned Cocktail
Substitute honeyed simple syrup in this new take on a classic cocktail.
Makes one cocktail
- 1 tablespoon honeyed simple syrup
- 2 dashes bitters
- 2 ounces rye whiskey or bourbon
- 1 1-inch strip lemon rind
- 1 amarena cherry
- Honeyed Simple Syrup:
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup Acacia Honey from Franca Franzoni
Shake syrup, bitters and whiskey with a handful of ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Strain and serve in a highball glass garnished with lemon twist and amarena cherry.
To make Honeyed Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add honey. Once dissolved, remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.
