5 Delicious (and Nutritious) New Year's Resolutions

08 January 2017

We all start out the new year with plenty of resolutions—eat healthier, cook at home instead of going out, be more adventurous in the kitchen. We come out of the gate strong, but sometimes it's hard to actually keep them. We've come up with 5 resolutions so delicious (and nutritious) you'll be toasting a healthy new year all-year long.

I Resolve To

Upgrade my lunch routine

dear north salmon 400x522Wild Smoked Sockeye Salmon from DearNorth

(a quick, flavorful out-of-the-pantry meal)

This year, say goodbye to boring desk lunches. DearNorth's Wild Smoked Sockeye Salmon—sustainably-fished and smoked over alderwood—is deliciously meaty yet delicate with subtle notes of smoke and the sea.

Our lunch upgrade: Toss flaked salmon with Agrumato Lemon Olive Oil, chopped capers and parsley. Pile atop crusty bread or a bed of greens and garnish with a spritz of fresh lemon.

I Resolve To . . . Spice up my lifeSpice up my life

Marash ChiliMarash Chili from Whole Spice

(a.k.a. the sprinkle-over-everything spice)

Marash Chiliknown for its well-balanced heat and notes of roasted red pepper and dried fruit—adds a warm, nuanced spice to dishes of all types.

Spice it up: Sprinkle over your morning eggs, add a pinch to a zesty dressing for winter citrus and buttery avocado or combine with ground cumin and sea salt for an easy smoky-sweet seasoning for chicken, fish and vegetables.

(use it abundantly, use it now)

Olio nuovo—the first extra virgin olive oil to be released each harvest—is olive oil in its most intense and raw state: pure green and robust in taste with polyphenols galore.

A healthy pour: Enjoy this live, superfood over everything—drizzle atop sautéed cavalo nero, add a flourish to a bowl of white beans and liberally garnish a simple baked potato topped with Maldon Sea Salt & freshly cracked pepper.

rustichella pizzichi di farro Pizzichi di Farro Pasta from Rustichella d'Abruzzo

(yes, do have that plate of pasta)

Rustichella d'Abruzzo's farro pasta is made solely with 100% Abruzzo-grown farro and mountain spring water. The result? Wholesome, nutty pasta that is both tasty and healthful (high-fiber, low-gluten, plenty of vitamin A, B C & E).

Eat up: Pair farro pasta with equally earthy flavors—like caramelized mushrooms and greens, slow-roasted tomatoes or walnut pesto.
